Two Hand Tutorials
Welcome to The Ceili Experience Two Hand Tutorials.
This program is intended to help beginners go from “never dancing before” to being “able to dance” some two hand ceili/country dances at home. You can dance it on your own, as a couple or even get a whole family dancing together, for the craic (Gaelic for fun).
Please make sure you have enough room to move around without falling over the furniture.
Each dance will have the same format of 4 videos, on different tabs:
– Firstly you get to see the dance done to live music with a large group of dancers, so you know what it looks like in advance. If you’ve never danced before, please don’t be intimidated by this, I don’t expect beginners to be at this speed right away.
– I’ll then go through each dance for you, step by step, from the “man’s” position (on the left) and then the “woman’s” position (on the right). Please note that I am a facing you so my lefts and rights appear differently to yours.
– Next, I’ll do it with a dance partner for you at walking pace.
– Finally, we’ll do it together to music (not too fast) with a few others for you to see how the movements go.
You can go back over the different sections of each dance to practice again at your own pace.
Each one builds on the one before. So as you progress, hopefully things will get a bit easier for you.
